Optimizing the amount of concrete for the construction of Wastewater Stabilization Ponds: A case study of Ayvadere, Trabzon, Turkey

Natural systems are a cost-effective way to clean wastewater from small communities. This paper aims use an optimization technique minimize the volume of concrete needed construct facultative pond provided within series three ponds. A nonlinear constrained model was written and then solved using one Add-Ins MS office. The add-in used Excel Solver, algorithm generalized reduced gradient (GRG). Before applying model, stabilization ponds (WSPs) were de-signed various configurations arrangements. best possible configuration that gave minimum area hydraulic detention time selected for study area. Afterward, applied further by 11.46 %, 11.47%, 6.94% compared traditional approach. In both methods, effluents satisfy Turkish class-B stand-ards irrigation. It is recommended small-scale application be made compare results before it on large scale.
